I hope you are having a great week!

We are enjoying reading Esperanza Rising and some good discussion has come from its reading about ethics and human rights.  I'm very pleased at how the students are engaged in the story. This week, our math skill is standard 5--Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. [5-NBT5].  Strategically choose and apply appropriate strategies for multiplying accurately. They will continue to work on multiplication using the traditional algorithm and other methods. Below is a tutorial on one of the methods that is called--Partial Products Using an Area Model. This will be one of our foci for the week.
